One of the nicest parts about working as an expat in Korea is that we have ample opportunity to see parts of the world we otherwise might not have had the chance to visit. However, it is generally a good idea to avoid catching something that your Western antibodies aren’t prepared for in the process. Here is a link for the CDC. The cheapest place for getting your shots before you travel is the Public Health Center, or Bogeonso (보건소).

The clinic offers vaccines for typhoid, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, and a few other common ailments for much less than you would pay at the hospital. (The typhoid shot in particular only cost 4,000w). You’re out of luck if you need the hepatitis A vaccine, though; you’ll need to go to a hospital for that. One thing to be aware of is that if you need multiple shots you may have to come in more than once.

There are three bogeonso locations in Changwon: one in Dong-eup, one in Palyong-dong, and one in central Changwon just off the roundabout. Masan and Jinhae are served by their own clinics. Click here for a daum map of the locations.
